Should Iodine Supplement Be Taken For Underactive Thyroid?

I am taking 75mg of Amour Thyroid and 50mg of Thyroxine for an underactive thyroid gland. I have been told that Iodine is needed to correct my situation. If this is correct can I just take an Iodine supplement with the thyroxine products or would I be better to go off them altogether, cold turkey. I am a little confused about what to do and all I want is to loose this weight and not feel so tired. Can you please advise me.

Hello,
Good day.
Iodine is important for thyroid health and function. Iodine is there in seafood and seasalt in sufficient quantity. If you take seafood 2-3 times a week and if you are using iodized salt, then that should be sufficient. If you have put on weight because of hypothyroidism, then u will lose weight after taking Thyroxine. Please control the diet and start exercise. Try to keep TSH in the range of 2. ( check TSH after 6 weeks)
