Should I Visit Doctor For Painful Wound On Foot Caused By Stepping On Glass?
I stepped on glass three days ago and it bled everywhere. Like there was a large stain on my bed and bloody footprints all over the house. It hurts when I press directly on the wound but I can manage to walk on it, with only slight pain. Should I go to the doctor or will I be fine?
I would advice that you should definitely go the doctor since their is a chance that some part of glass would have remained inside the tissue.
Since the wound happened 3 days ago, so it has to be encouraged to heal by secondary intention wound healing. It should not be stitched at this stage.
I would definitely advice an injection of tetnus toxoid.
The wound should be cleaned and protected with an Antiseptic Dressing which can be changed daily.
If i was your treating doctor in such a case, i would have surely want to start an oral antibiotic to prevent any secondary infection from developing since the wound is already 3 days old.
take care regards
