Should I Visit A Urologist If I Am Over 50 Years Of Age?

If I am over 50, should I be seeing a urologist separate from a General Practitioner? My GP had indicated that there is no need, though I did a see a urologist (since that is a specialty) when I lived in a different part of the country. I had enlarged prostate issues in the past.

Urologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist,i would definitely advise you to consult an Urologist.
As you've had prostate gland issues in the past,do the following tests also :
1. urine routine and culture.
2. blood routine,creatinine,PSA,RBS,and LFT.
3. ultrasound scan-KUB and TRUS.
4. uroflowmetry.
With these reports, the Urologist can give you proper advise.
If you have any doubts, you can send the reports to me,as a direct question.
