my 87 yr old mom fell hit her hip area on Saturday. it bruised and got swollen but no problem with walking. she has been placing ice on the area and the swelling has now turned hard. She is on Coumadin so I'm wondering if this is blood and if so does it need to be removed? she is now experiencing pain when she is sitting or standing

Hi,
As she is on this medicine there might be having tendency for bleeding as Coumadin is a blood thinning agent.
Continue with ice pack for few days more.
Hematoma will be absorbed gradually.
if blood collection is more then it might require drainage of blood.
Ok and take care.
