Should I Stop Taking Janumet For Diabetes Due To Stomach Cramps, Headache, And Nausea?

Thanks. I'm being treated for type 2 diabetes my numbers have increased I have currently been taking (2) janumet 50/500 Hcl daily AM/PM
My doctor has included one metaformin twice daily (500 ml hcl)
I began yesterday I'm having stomach cramps, headache and nauseas (not vomiting) additionally about two hours after eating and taking medicine I had a major drop in blood sugar....very dizzy, light headed and sweats.
My question is should I stop taking and take what I did previously a year ago which was janumet xr 100/1000
I stopped when blood sugar improved and went to the current janumet

Hello,

Blood sugar value alone should be taken as a criteria to increase oral hypoglycemic drugs.
Diet, exercise and daily energy expenditure should also be considered while increasing the dose.
This will help in preventing hypoglycemic episodes.
So my advise to my patient would be to continue janumet 50/500.
Janumet XR 100/1000 is an extended release preparation and may increase the chance of hypoglycemia. So don't start it without the advise of your doctor.
Eat small and frequent meal. Don't skip any meal.
Regularly check blood sugar.
Keep regular appointment with your doctor.
