Should I Increase My Effexor Dosage For Depression?
been taking effxor for depression etc for about 24 years. low dose 75mg 1 aday and lately I was getting depressed etc so doctor suggested to take 2 a day. has gotten a lot better. should I take both in morning or 1 in morning and 1 at nite? why do I need 2 now and what would be a new improved better choice so I would not loose my sex drive, its bad, but I cant do with out this , it gave me my life back. please respond thank you
Effexor contains venlafaxine and effective dose of it is 75 to 300 mg/ day. 75mg is the minimum effective dose and if patient does not get response with higher dose, then we try to increase the dose. In your case, may be you need higher dose and better to take it 150 mg per day. You can take it either at night only or in divided dose. In both cases, result would remain same. Rest, you can discuss with your psychiatrist. In case, you need further help, you can ask.
Thanks
