Should I Continue Taking Clopitab And Lipikind For BP?

2 years earlier My blood pressure was 170 / 125. I started using tredmill for 45 minutes ( at 6.5 km speed - 25 min, 9.5 k.m - 15 and 12 k.m - 5 minutes) and cycling for 10 minutes and other normal excercise for 15 minutes.

I was 94 k.gs then. Now I have reduced 10 k.gs and continuing the excercises and my b.P is 155 / 95-100. For the past sixc months i am taking Clopitab 75 mg and Lipikind 20m.g. I have controlled my blood sugar level to fasting 110mg and P.P - 160mg. with out taking medicines. Should i continue with the present medicine?

Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM.
Clopitab 75 and Lipikind 20 mg have been given to you to prevent emergence of CAD and its sequelae. In known diabetic and hypertensive patients with dyslipidemia, cholesterol rich plaques get deposited in the lining of medium to large sized arteries. As they rupture, platelets are attracted and aggregation of platelets occurs. This causes occlusion of the lumen and compromised blood flow. A compromised blood flow to the heart may result in Ischaemic Heart Disease. To break this chain, you have been given those medicines. So, it is not advisable to stop them. Furthermore, you should also check your HBA1c to find out the long term control of blood glucose without medication. Then, you should consult your local doctor and you will be advised accordingly.
