Should I Consult A Doctor For Cervical Lymphadenopathy And Left With Unilateral Tonsilitis And Furry Tongue?
HI I have left unilateral tonsillitis with white/ grey exudate and a "furry tongue" I have had a fever for 9 days, feel very nauseous, have bilateral cervical lymphadenopathy (worse on the left side) I am currently awaiting the results of a blood test for glandular fever what can I do about my throat - should i go to the GP to get a culture taken for strep?
Yes you can consult GP for antibiotics. You are suffering from membranous tonsillitis. You need to start an immediate course of antibiotics like amoxycillin 500mg thrice daily and analgesics like paracetamol. The antibiotics should be continued fr at least seven days for a complete cure and to avoid any further recurrence. To add, do gargling with warm saline at least thrice a day
