Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I Be Worried About Clots After Back Surgery?
I had back surgery about two weeks ago (discectomy and laminectomy). In this hospital, they kept asking me if I had any leg pain, and I had to where special stockings to prevent clots. Now that I've been home a while, I do feel some cramping in my left leg. I think it could be that I'm not drinking as much water as I was the first few days. Should I still be worried about a possible clot? Are there other symptoms I should be looking for?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. If you are bed ridden for several weeks then the chances of clot formation are nore. After a back surgery such a rest is not needed and thus do not worry. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal .
