Should I Be Concerned For The Small Red Dot In The White Eye Which Is Sore And Can I Continue To Wear The Contact Lenses?

I got poked in the eye during a basketball game and my contact lens fell out. I found it immediately and put it back in. My sight is normal, but I have a small red dot in the white eye of my eye and my eye is a bit sore. Not too bad, not preventing me from doing anything, including looking at the computer. Is there any cause for concern? Can I continue to wear contacts and play basketball the rest of this week?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that you had injury to eye during playing basketball. Following injury you are having red dot which is probably collection of blood under the conjunctiva called as subconjunctival hemorrhage.
This is a self limiting condition and this does not require any treatment. This will resolve in 3-4 weeks. You can continue wearing contact lenses no problem.

However if you are having symptoms like pain, watering from the eyes you are not supposed to wear contact lenses and you require evaluation by ophthalmologist.

Thank you
