Should Gardenal Be Continued Despite An Acute Cerebral Stroke Now?

hi, My dad is 70 years and has a several year history of taking one tablet of gardinal a night. He recently had an acute cerebral stroke. He is stable now and on meds for blood thining and insulin as he is diabetic wanted to know if it is safe to continue the gardinal apparently he had convulsions as a kid.

As per your concern. Gardinal will not interfere with the stroke related things. And that also minimum dosage will not have any issue. In case if you want to stop that then do consult with your neuro physician and it has to be reduced on a gradual basis. Suddenly leaving it may cause further issues. As well reduce the dosage only if your father does not have any more symptoms of epilepsy. Take care...

Gardinal is basically given for seizers history with patient. Here if patient does not have history of seizers from long time like more then 5years then this can be stopped on a gradually reducing dosage basis. This tablet also affects the central nervous system as well as the heart and many other behavior issues for on going consumption. As we know all allopathic tablets comes with some sort of side effects and so that even this tablet also have the same. Since patient have got stroke also recently my suggestion is as above I have mention. But you can also check once with your neuro physician which will be more helpful to take any alternate medication if he suggest. Take care.
