Hello,
If your wife has been prescribed Metformin for the treatment of PCOD or polycystic ovarian disease or in the treatment of diabetes, she should continue with the medication even if she is pregnant. This medication helps to control the insulin resistance and thereby maintain the blood sugar levels within the normal limits. Please consult your health care provider for a proper confirmation of pregnancy and if positive, follow it up with a sonogram to know the fetal well being and age of the pregnancy. Hope this helps.
