Severe Shoulder Pain, Numbness In Thumb Post Taking Penicillin Prior To Root Canal. Reason?

I am having a root canal on a right lower 6-year molar next week. My dentist put me on penecillin last week. I have almost no pain in the tooth . However, I developed pain in my right shoulder, which increased to severe pain yesterday. Now I have shoulder pain and my right thumb is numb. Might this be a nerve issue from the tooth?

Hi,

Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

No, the pain in the shoulder is not related to the root canal treatment. It could be due to spasm of the muscles in the shoulder.

Do apply DICLOFENAC gel over the affected area this will relieve you of pain .If doesnt help then you may have to get it examined.

Wish you good health.
