Severe Radiating Pain From Left Shoulder Across Chest. Could This Be Heart Attack ?

So what are the 4 things that happen before a woman has a heart attack?
My left shoulder has been in pain for several days, no injury... Last evening when I reached up with my right arm, I had a severe radiating pain from my left shoulder across my chest, painful.... Now what? I can't afford to run to the doctor or ER for all my pains. I've also had costocondritis about 2 years ago. My sugar was 216 last evening and 142 this morning. I see my primary doctor next Tuesday.

Thanks for your question

Symptoms of heart attack are;

Chest pain in the form of heaviness, stabbing or strangling
Radiates to either shoulder/s, arm/s, neck or jaw
Remains for more than 20 minutes
Associated with sinking of heart, sweating or vomiting

In cases where a patient is woman, elderly or diabetic, it may present atypically with shortness or breath

I suggest you consult a doctor and get an ecg with or without echocardiogram

Hope that answers

Hi,
There is nothing like,sure things to happen before a heart attack.Heart attack happens suddenly most times.Few warning signals are available like exertional angina,rest angina etc.But your symptom is not convincing to be included under this.It does not like a warning signal of heart attack.Your pain was aggravated by movement of the other arm and it is long standing without any serious effects.So,its definitely not a heart attack.What needs to be ruled out is whether this pain is suggestive of a heart attack in the future.By history alone it appears to be more of cervical neuralgia.
As you are a diabetic,its better to not ignore any heart symptoms ,but to evaluate.ECG,Echocardiogram and TMT may be done after consultation with your doctor.Hope it clarifies.
