hi, i am 46 years ols, has type -II diabeties for last 10 years, HBA1c 6.9, i experience pain in my upper thigh some times and it starts one side and once it is ok it starts in my other side. this is nerve pain and last 2-3 weeks. no pain killer works and its takes its own time. is is becoz of Diabeties or else? pain so severe that i can hardly manage rutien/work etc.. this happens 2-3 times a year, nothing comes in X-rays, gone to nerologist nothing diagnosed, Ortho gave up, MD gave up and now i am left with accupressure only. one of the Dr suggested that my nerve is traped and needs steroid injection ? pls suggest.

Diabetologist 's  Response
dear I understand your concern.in my opinion you are suffering from diabetic neuropathy.most of this diabetic neuropathy will respond to drugs like pregabalin and gabapentin.in worst case scenarios tramadol can also be tried.technically we call it as diabetic asymmetrical poly neuropathy.in my opinion steroid injections may not help in this condition.kindly ask your doctor to give a try for above stated medications ......regards
