Severe pain in left heel portion while walking, left elbow joint, tried various medications, no help. Solution ?

I have severe pain in left heel portion whenever I walk. Similarly I have severe pain in the left elbow joint , where I cannot lift even a glass of water. Initially the orthopedic doctor diagnosed it as heel spur and gave me treatment & medicine - no relief. Then I went to Ayurveda doctor and twice undertook treatment for heel problem but no relief. I would like to know whether it is nervous problem. Pls provide solution

Hi sasi,
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
The Very severe pain of left elbow is highly unlikely ti be of neurological origin.
rather the pain in left heel can be due to calcaneal spur and the pain in left elbow due to osteoarthritis.
It would be in your interest to get assessed by a trained orthopedician and get evaluated rather than to following the murky treatments.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.

Diabetologist Dr. Zaheer Shaikh's  Response
Your problem does not seem to be neurological. The two diagnoses I can think of based on your history are Gout and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Gout is a condition in which painful joints are caused due to deposition of crystals of uric acid. Rheumatoid arthritis is a condition in which your body's immune system is hyperactive and attacks the lining of your joints causing inflammation and pain. It would be worthwhile to get your Uric acid levels checked first. If that is within the normal range, get a RA test done and consult a physician.
Wish you good luck.

General & Family Physician Dr. Kulbir Singh's  Response
Hello Sasi and thanks for writing in
To treat the disease we have to first find out the cause of pain whatever it is and try to remove the cause of the pain. The main cause of the heel pain is overweight. Try to reduce your weight if you are overweight. The other causes are:
1. Heel Spur: X-ray of the heel is useful in getting to a diagnosis. If all medical treatment fails surgery is the choice of treatment.
2. Painful heel syndrome: Caused by stretched ligament.
3. Gout: Increased uric acid.
4. Arthritis: Joint pain is commonly occur in this.
5. Muscular sprains of spasm
6. Calcium or vitamin deficiency

Consult your orthopedic doctor and try to find out the cause of the pain. The treatment can be planned accordingly.
Best Wishes and get well soon
