Severe Pain And Swelling In Right Knee, Nerve Damage In Left Leg, Back Problems. Suggestions?

I am having severe pain and swelling in my right knee. The pain is around and behind the knee. I can bend it slightly but with severe pain. I've been resting, icing it and taking mobic. Had MRI that showed arthritic changes. I've been referred to orthopedic surgeon. I had arthroscopic surgery 18yrs ago. They removed excess tissue and cleaned area. Always had some discomfort. But has gotten worse in the past few months. What do you think the treatment will be? Any comments opinions welcomed. I also have nerve damage in left leg and arm and back problems from a fall. I am currently taking opana and Percocet for pain daily. Does not help knee pain at all. Do you think I've built up a tolerance to meds. I've been taking for approximately 2 years.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
hallo dear friend
i hv studied your case
you are suffering from knee osteoarthritis ,may be specially patello-femoral arthritis
at your age process of degenaration starts and lead to cartilage damage
take some analgesic , cartilage protecting medicine[ cartigen dn]
you will need X RAY knee

mean while take rest ,climbing stairs is going to aggrivate pain so try to avoid that

physio - SWD USG TENS
quadriceps exersizes
as arthroscopy has been done , now if pain doesnt get relieved then u need to undergo TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT
for further query contact drvaibhavg@yahoo.com
