Severe Hot Flashes And Night Sweats After Hysterectomy. On Clonidine And Nerontin. History Of Breast Cancer In Family. Any Medication Other Than Hormones, Soy Or OTC?

I have the breast cancer gene. I had uterine cancer (side effects of meds to prevent breast cancer) my mother had breast cancer, my sister had cervical cancer. Since my hysterectomy, I still have severe hor flashes/night sweats. I take at least 4/5 baths a night. I've tried Effexor, increased the sweats. I am on clonidine, and nerontin. Nothing help decrease the severe systems. I cannot take any hormones, soy, or OTC meds. Is there anything else I could try? I sweat off all make up, my hair stays frizzy due to sweating. I'm hoping there is other avenues, as my quality of life and sleep is severely affected. In addition, I am gaining a lot of weight, with no change in eating habits.

Hi, You had breast cancer gene, you had uterine cancer, since hysterectomy, have flashes, and night sweats, weight gain.
All these symptoms seem to be due to complete hysterectomy, (ovary removal) the treatment is estrogen harmone and you are not expected to use it.
Avoid taking spices, junk foods, and oily foods.
Practice yoga, meditation, reading books and hearing music.
I to my patients prescribe ranitidine 300 mg, BID.
Thank you.
