Severe Electric Shock Type Of Pain In The Upper Right Arm. Happens When Arm Is Suddenly Moved. What Is The Reason?

I have just started having a severe electric shock type of pain that seems to shoot down from the top of my arm down to right above my elbow in the back of the arm. It does seem to radiate down to my pinky finger but not with a severe pain as in the top of my arm. I can pin point exactly where the pain shoots to on my upper arm. When it first happened it felt like a bee sting. It seems to happen when I move my arm suddenly.

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

These are typical nerve-pains, due to either, compression or/injury to the nerves at the level of shoulder joint. The compression occurs whenever movement at the shoulder joint takes place, giving rise to nerve pains.

Or, it is due to compression over the spinal cord at the neck level or, the nerves emerging from it.

Third possibility is inflammation of the bundle of nerves at the shoulder joint (called, Brachial neuritis) .

Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me, order required tests, and- based on the reports- will prescribe suitable treatment.
