Severe Ear Pain Lasting Hours. Clogged And Vertigo With Nausea. Why Cough?

Hello, Awoke 4 days ago with severe ear pain lasting for hours. Went to ER, diagnosed with dbl ear infection of inner and outer ear , RX for antibiotics and motrin. NExt day, voice gone as well. Ear completely clogged since (total hearing loss in rt ear, somewhat in left), pain gone, no ear drainage. Vertigo and lethargy now and sometimes nausea . No noise in ear from fluid for 2 days. Voice somewhat better. Unable to taste anything, very little cough. Is it normal to have ears so blocked this long? Driving me crazy. Many thanks.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,nothing to worry, you are in the recovering phase.this can be due to upper respiratory infection.during an infection you tend to have an mucosal edema which will lead to blockage of the ear. as the infection settles, the edema too settles and the blockage might get relieved. so aadvice you to continue antibiotic for about one week.salt water gaurgling would help you in relief of you sore throat.if symptoms persists you should see an ent surgeon for the expert examination.
