Severe Ear Pain. Not Able To See The Ear Drum. Will It Grow Back?

I went to the doc yesterday (for the second time) after having an ear ache for over a week. She could not see my ear drum. Is it possible that my ear drum was flushed out? There was a large piece of flesh like material that came out of my ear when I flushed. If so, at my age (31) is it possible for the ear drum to grow back and how long will it take?

Hello

Thanks for writing to H.C.M. for your query.

I read your query regarding a piece of flesh in the ear lavage fluid during ear cleaning, and your doctor was unable to see ear drum in your ear. You are having severe pain in the ear as well.

In the above matter I would like to say that you are having acute pain in ear so it might be possible that you are suffering from acute otitis externa with polyp and during flushing fragile polyp may came out in the ear cleaning. Because ear drum is a membranous structure not a fleshy body. So in my opinion the flesh you have seen is most probably polyp of external ear. In cases of otitis externa with polyp some times it becomes difficult to see ear drum.

I hope this answers your query.

Regards.
