Severe Discomfort In Throat, Pain In Neck And Jaw, Headaches. What Could Be This?

Hello Doctors, I have recently begun to experience severe discomfort in my throat that is followed by pain from my neck across the top of my shoulders , I am constantly exhausted and suffer from headaches. To add to all of this I am in pain in my jaw and when I try to take deep breaths or sneeze the pain is unbearable. PLEASE HELP, we just had a new baby 2 days ago and I was hoping to be better by now. Sypmtoms have gotten worse over the last 4 weeks and are not so bad in the morning but get so bad about 1/2 way thru the work day until night time that it is so unbearable I pass out from exhaustion.

you are having upper respiratory tract infection..for which i suggest you take a combination medicine of anti-histamine , anti-pyretic and caffiene like wicoryl...for 2-3 days since u got infection i would suggest a wide spectrum antibiotic like amoxiclav for 3-5days...follow general measures like salt water gargling , steam inhalation , lozenges for throat irritation..consume plenty of oral fluids and hydrate well..

Dentist Dr. Bindiya Bhaskar's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Discomfort in throat, neck as well as in jaws usually occur due to infected ,carious tooth, inflammed flap overlying tooth, periodontal infection.

I would advice you to get a thorough clinical evaluation done.

To relieve pain, amoxycillin as well as analgesics with muscle relaxants has to be administered.

Infected tooth has to be restored or extracted depending on severity of infection.

I wish you good health.

Take care.
