Severe Diarrhoea. Developed Cystitis. No Help From Imodium. Solution?

I have just returned from a trip to Central Asia. The very last day I had a severe bout of diarrhoea but Imodium settled things. Since returning home, I have developed cystitis. Although I have been drinking lots of water, the symptoms are getting worse. I have been up and down all night to the bathroom to urinate. Tihis has become painful and the feeling of discomfort is increasing. I am mindful of the fact that three years ago, I had something very similar after returning from Morocco. Despite antibiotics, the urine infection developed into a kidney infection and I ended up in hospital quite poorly. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
The past history of kidney infection suggests earliest attention to your complaints.
Please get your urine checked for culture & sensitivity test for causative bacterias.Consultation of a Nephrologist & complete treatment according to his advice- should be proffered considering past history of Kidney infection you had.
Please follow lifestyle changes for quick relief-
- Plenty of oral fluids
- Avoid coffee, alcohol; soft drinks with caffeine, citrus juices, and spicy food till you are completely relieved of the complaint.
- The pain can be eased by hot pad or sitz bath ( sitting in a bath tub with warm water.
Thank you.
