Hallo,
Dementia is significantly more common among elderly people.
Dementia is a non-specific syndrome in which affected areas of brain function may be affected, such as memory, language, problem solving and attention.
When dementia appears the higher mental functions of the patient are involved initially. Eventually, in the later stages, the person may not know what day of the week, month or year. It is he may not know where he is , and might not be able to identify the people around him.
Ayurveda Treatment:
The basic principles of Ayurveda can be put to judicious use in treating dementia
An excess deposition of protein, dysfunction of the
brain cell neurotransmitters, and destruction of brain cells are characteristic of these conditions.
Brain damage, which is the root cause of this condition can be treated using medicines which improve the
metabolism of "MAJJA " dhatu in the body, and help in improving the overall functioning and quality of the brain cells.
MADHYA:
Ayurveda mentions a category of medicines known as" Madhya" , which improve the working capacity of the brain.
The category includes medicines like MANDUKAPARNI ,YESHTIMADHUK , GUDUCHI ,
BRAHMI ,and SANGUPUSHPI.
These medicines may help in slowing down the destruction of brain cells, stabilizing brain function, and in the long run may even help to regenerate brain cells.
