Severe Dementia. History Of Angioplasty, BP And Diabetes. Any Ayurvedic Treatment?

Greetings!!!

I am Muthu from TamilNadu.

My father is affected by "Dementia". Could you please help to heal him through Ayurveda treatment?

Let me explain my father's history in detail below.

1. He is a retired Auditor 2. He had some good memory power and analytic skills in the past. 3. Last 3 years ago, he faced some memory related problems like unable to identify some known persons 4. Last 8 months ago, he had undergone Angioplasty for Heart attack. 5. After that, his memory related problems increased 6. He is unable to recognize close relatives 7. He is unable to differentiate day and night times. It means he said morning 7 O clock as night 7 O clock 8. He forgot some recent events as well as some old events 9. Fear about death. Because of that, he wants to close all the Insurance policies now itself. 10. Doing the same action again and again. For example, checking the insurance policy receipts again and again. 11. He is a Sugar and BP patient also 12. Now he is more eager on eating sugar containing foods. 13. Sometime he got some irritation 14. He wants to do things soon. For example, wants to have coffee at 2 PM and dinner at 4.00 PM

Our entire family is worried so much because my father is not feeling well. Please help us by healing my father.

Thanks, M.Muthu

Hallo,
Dementia is significantly more common among elderly people.
Dementia is a non-specific syndrome in which affected areas of brain function may be affected, such as memory, language, problem solving and attention.
When dementia appears the higher mental functions of the patient are involved initially. Eventually, in the later stages, the person may not know what day of the week, month or year. It is he may not know where he is , and might not be able to identify the people around him.
Ayurveda Treatment:
The basic principles of Ayurveda can be put to judicious use in treating dementia
An excess deposition of protein, dysfunction of the brain cell neurotransmitters, and destruction of brain cells are characteristic of these conditions.
Brain damage, which is the root cause of this condition can be treated using medicines which improve the metabolism of "MAJJA " dhatu in the body, and help in improving the overall functioning and quality of the brain cells.
MADHYA:
Ayurveda mentions a category of medicines known as" Madhya" , which improve the working capacity of the brain.
The category includes medicines like MANDUKAPARNI ,YESHTIMADHUK , GUDUCHI , BRAHMI ,and SANGUPUSHPI.
These medicines may help in slowing down the destruction of brain cells, stabilizing brain function, and in the long run may even help to regenerate brain cells.

1. as he is suffering from BP and diabetes also, make sure they are within normal limits, as high blood sugar and blood pressure also contribute to altered sensorium like state.
2. regarding Dementia, he has to be evaluated for Neurological examination for "Tests of Memory" .
3. your doctor might ask for relevant lab investigations (Vitamin B12,niacin deficiency, thyroid profile, along with CT-Head for any AD, multi infarct dementia,NPH, or for any malignancy.
4. because there is memory loss, In Ayurveda we treat on the lines of "Apasmaar" i.e.:
. mahakalyan ghrita 12gm before food with hot water (in divided doses)
. mansmitra vatkam 1 tab at bed time.
. smriti sagar ras 250 mg
brahmi vati 250 mg
vacha churna 500mg twice a day with honey.
5. Avoid heavy-slimy-incompatibile food, alcohol, excess mental stress/ grief/ sorrow, anger, long night wakings.
