Severe Coughing After Taking Lisinopril For BP. Alternative Medicine Without Side Effects?

I was on lisinopril for 6 months and had this god awful cough. Went on the internet and found out that it could be my blood pressure medicine. When to my doctor. She switched me from lisinopril to losartan and my cough is just as bad if not worse. Do they contain the same ace inhibitors. Could it be the ace inhibitors that are causing my cough. She told me I would not have a cough with the losartan but I do. What could she put me on that won't produce a cough. I can't stand the cough any more

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

ACE inhibitors can cause a chronic cough. ARBs such as losartan are used to replace ACE inhibitors when this problem occurs.

ARBs including losartan are not associated with side effects.

If the cough has not decreased with the change to losartan you may have to consider other causes.
This would include post nasal drip, GERD, cough variant asthma.

I hope this helps
