Severe Cold, Difficulty Breathing Through Nasal Passage. Unable To Sleep After Taking Mucinex D. Have High BP And Heart Disease. Can Ambien Be Taken?

I took Mucinex D for my cold, I was very congested and couldn't breath thru either of my nasal passages. I took it at (1) at 10:00 pm. It is 2:00pm and I can't sleep. I am wide awake. I do suffer from High Blood Pressure, and do have heart disease.
May I take my Ambien 6.25 so that I can sleep?
Thank You.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Congestion is there with respiration depression.
Due to breathlessness , you are feeling uneasiness hence insomnia ( sleepless).
In my opinion you should NOT take Ambien as this is zolpidem a sedative but respiratory depressor.
Already you are a patient of heart disease and hypertensive.
Consult a physician and take treatment for cold and heart disease.
Hope I have answered your query.
Good luck.
