Sensitivity And Itching In Vaginal Area. Anti-itch Cream Ineffective. Stopped Sexual Activity

Hi Dr Samuel. I have recently changed several things in my life. One of those things is that I have become sexually active again after four years of not being active. I noticed that my vaginal area started with a sensitivity last week, which became an itch within a day. I have never had a yeast infection, or any vaginal problems for that matter. My partner has to be extensively tested for STDs and infections because of he donated blood and plasma often, and I have known him for a long time, so I am pretty sure it is not something like that. I bought some anti-itch cream for the vaginal area, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Its is not getting worse, but it is not getting better and I have put the sex on hold, so I have not bee sexually active since I realized something was different

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
It seems that you are having a vaginal yeast infection. In addition to local vaginal pessaries you also need an oral antifungal treatment for full relief. The partner also needs treatment to avoid recurrences.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
