Rotted Grade 3 Placenta After Child Birth. Placenta Remains Left Inside, Delivered Later. Anything To Worry ?

Hi i had a grade 3 placenta & was told that the placenta was rotted. I was brought in & started but a week after my baby was delivered i was took back into hospital. My iron levels were at 5.1 & they then discovered that part of the placenta was left inside me. What i want to ask is how was this not noticed when the placenta was delivered & also i had been in pain for 4 weeks before having my baby so could this have been a sign that something was wrong??

Retained placenta is a problem detected after delivery....it could happen due to previous cesarean section where placenta was attached to the scar site....it is a seious problem as it will lead to bleeding and infections. ..it needs to be corrected urgently when diagnosed. ....psin before baby could be due to some other reason.....retained placenta doesn't occur before delivery
