I fell about 3 weeks ago on a wet floor and landed on my right hip. I get sever pain when in bed but not much when mobile in the day, is it just time for what may be a bruised hip. I am 72 years old but fit.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
Pain in the hip while resting with a history of injury in the hip might be due to minor capsular tear or an inflammation of the articular cartilage of hip.
An examination by an orthopedician and investigations like MRI of hip will help in determining the soft tissue injuries.
Meanwhile you can do a hot fomentation, apply local analgesic gel on the area and have a mild pain killer like acetaminophen for relief.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
