Rib in pain due to cough. Is it a muscle catch?

Hi I am 31 years old woman last month i was having cough due to that I got pain in my left rib. I have taken x-ray that is normal . doctor told me it is muscle catch now doctor has given me hifenac-p and on powregestic jel. 10 days are over but still I am having that pain . The pain is more when I lie down and when i cough .I am using hot water bag 3 times a day Doctor told me it will take 3 weeks to cure this problem . I am facing so many problems please guide me

Thanks for your query.
The symptoms you have described are more likely to be symptoms of muscles strain.
To get relief from the pain and for quick healing:
1. Do hot fomatation at the site.
2. Apply local anti-inflammatory gel 2-3 times a day.
3. Take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and local swelling or inflammation.
4. Do not lift weight or try to do exercise that involve painful muscles. Give proper time to heal.
