Resurfacing Symptoms Of Encopresis. What Type Of Diet Should Be Incorporated?

My 4 year old son was diagnosed with encopresis in early November. We went through a clean out process using a daily high dosage of Miralax. We thought he was cleaned out, but the signs and symptoms of encopresis are emerging again. I am wondering what foods we should absolutely avoid and if there are other laxatives we should try?

Hi,
Thank you for your query.
Constipation with retention of stools is the cause for encopresis in most of the children.
If there is any fecal impaction, it has to be treated by giving laxatives or enema.
Give high dietary fiber diet such as vegetables, leafy vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.
Avoid junk and fried foods.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
