Regular Periods, Very Scanty Flow, Normal Hemoglobin, Thyroid Tests, Under Stress, Has Junk Food, Weight Gain, Advice

Hi My name is Gurdeep . I am female & 39.1/2 years old. Since past 6-7 months my periods are regular on time but scanty flow. I have no kids , this is not because of some any health problems or gyneac problem but we have not planned yet .My hemoglobing is 13.2 & my complete Thyroid checkup was also normal. I can say i am stressed since 8-9 yrs due domestic problems but still i can say my flow was normal & use to flow for complete 3 full days where as now it starts regularly on 26th day but very light & gradually increases on 3rd day & then again becomes very light & stops& due to this i have gained weight from 62 kg to 65 - my height is 5.2 . I also have a habbits of eating some times junk food also & no physical exercises included in my routine as i am working & hardly get any time for this. Pls advise...... Thanks

Hi Gurdeep,
You are asking advise for which problem, kindly be specific. still from your narration two problems are there, one is your increased weight, change in menstrual cycle and other you have not conceived yet. There is a biological cycle for reproductive function, which is at peak on an average in the age group of 20-35 years or may be till 40 years of age. As a female approaches 40 years of age the Menstrual cycle does changes and keeps on changing till menopause. it could be accompanied with mood changes, weight gain, pain in joints etc.
I advise you to plan your family at the earliest because you are approaching the end of your fertile years. Moreover pregnancy in old age is predisposed to complications. So consult a Gnyaecologist and go for conception. A few other advises are:
1. Avoid Junk Food
2. Increase fruits and salads in your diet
3. Go for healthy snacks
4. Add one hour of brisk walk to your daily schedule, it would be better if done twice a day
5. Try to keep a happy state of mind, optimism is the solution for many problems
6. Try to include some kind of Hobby classes

wish you luck and healthy life

Hi Gurdeep, the problem of your scanty mensturation is not causing your weight gain but the weight gain is causing scanty periods. Your ideal body weight according to your height should be between 53 to 56kgs. You should cut down on the junk food and incorporate some form of physical activity in your daily routine. Besides your work your health should also be your priority and do try to stay fit. Also if you do plan to have kids it would not be wise to postpone it longer as delayed pregnancy could be harmful for the fetus as there are more chances of genetic anomalies as well as may cause increased chances of maternal complications.
