Redness And Tender Skin Around Navel. History Of Having Navel Recontruction Surgery With Removal Of Extra Skin. Concerning?

My son had naval recontruction surgery along with his removal of extra skin due to loosing a lot of weight. His surgery was months ago. Around his naval is red and very tender and has been since Thursday. He's concerned that it is something he needs to go to the ER about since it's Saturday and he is unable to see his doctor.

Hi dear

Welcome to the HCM,

As you have described the history it appear that the area has got infected. Possibly some left over sutures might have got intact there, and it requires some attention by the surgeon.

You may respond to some oral antibiotic and aniinflammtory anlgesics.

Hope the query is answered

Thanks
