Reddish Itchy Rashes After Taking Effexor. Any Advice?
Hi, I am in Effexor and about two weeks after taking it I broke out with a real bad itchy rash.
I have gone to the doctor's and they do not know what it is. I am being treated with something to kill a mite just in case. She didn't think it was that do to the bites but one looked possible but she was doubtful. She really had no idea.
So she gave me a steroid lotion as well. I am so confused has to why I have this rash. MY back and legs
Mostly my back and legs. So I read Effexor could give you a rash but not by the manufacturer but just random websites.

Its said in our medical books , any rash that comes with in 4 weeks of starting a drug , then most probably that drug id the culprit, but the rash should be itchy and is known as drug rash
Effexor does causes rash
Rash (3%), pruritus (1%), bruising
You need to stop the effexor for atleast 2 weeks to see whether the rash disappears , change to other drugs whuch are its sisters known as SNRI
i hope this helps , steroid cream wont be effective as you are taking the source of rash every day , though your itching will go away
