Red And Painful Throat. Is It A Bug Or Virus? Is It Tonsil Related?

Hiya I m female 24 years old I have a recurring bright red painful throat and roof of mouth plus slight cough I ve been well about a week after having this previously for 3 weeks and self medicating for pain and sore throat I m not sure weather or not to visit my gp I generally catch every bug/ virus and usually they are throat/ tonsil related any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi and thanks for the query.
You can take any over the counter pain killer if there is pain.
Please follow some general measures...
1) Warm salt water gargling 4 times daily.
2) Plenty of fluids.
3) Avoid cold foods and air conditioning.
If you do not feel better in 2 more days then you need to visit you doctor.
