Hi,
To treat the infection now, do warm water compresses twice to thrice in a day and apply mupirocin cream. If this does not heal the lesion oral antibiotics would be required. To prevent recurrent infections
Wash your hands regularly and maintain good body hygiene. Use an antibacterial soap for the purpose
Application of antibacterial cream like mupirocin is advised in body cavities like anal area, nasal area to prevent colonisation of disease causing bacteria. So do it for seven to 10 days
If both does not help, then a course of oral antibiotic like amoxycillin etc along with rifampicin might be required to prevent recurrence.
Sometimes use of prolonged medicines like antibiotics or steroids, low immunity, diabetes can precede recurrent staph infection. So underlying causes should be ruled out too.
Hope that answers your query. Take care.
