Recurring Sore Throat. Temporary Relief From Medicines. Permanent Cure?

Hello I am Massimo from NL, and i suffer from recurring sore throats that stuck me in bed every time for 3-4 days.
The last began on Tuesday until thursday i saw my doctor who convinced by the pus on the bac of the throat and the swallen lymphnodes prescribed me Broxil which i took for three days already. Symptoms have not gone better. Thursday fever peaked 39C and after that is in the 37-38 range. This morning i went to the hospital worried why the antibiotic is not helping relieving pain. The doctor who saw me said that there was no peritonsillar abscess, therefore it was not a bacteria and it was most likely a virus as it is in 90% of the cases... He added that i should take 1000mg paracetamol 3x day to help pain, and continue the antibiotic cure, for safety. I did just that. And now since a few hours I lost my voice too, but pain is relieved by the paracetamol thanks God for this medicine!
I don't know what to believe anymore, I got sick 4 times in the last 5 months, always with a sore throat, 2 times also involving the nose, but this time pain has reached peaks i was not aware of, involving both my ears. The ears are fine said the doctor this morning he checked them. They always say it is viral, but since a kid i would rid of sore throats with bactrim within 3 days. I am worried this recurrent phenomenon is going to get even worse in the future! My doctor here in NL says that he doesn't want to send me to an ENT because there they would prescribe me tonsillectomy. I find this a ridiculous answer from him. I just wish to know what is the problem and how to not get sick so often, before going to remove the tonsills... Thanks you very much for your patience reading this long post, and for you valuable help! Greetings from NL!

Hi,
From your history it seems that you are having recurrent throat infection giving rise to this problem off an on.
What I advice is go for throat swab examination and culture so that we can know exact causative organisms and specific antibiotic working against it.
In recurrent attack of throat infection and if there is follicular tonsillitis, it advisable to go for Tonsillectomy.
Avoid cold drinks and junk food.
Do antiseptic gargles.
Ok and take care.
