Recurrent Sore Throat. Could It Be Bacterial ?

My son (age 7) has had a sore throat for about a week with occasional improvement. Though it comes and goes, it has not consistently improved over the course of the week. 7 days ago, he had a fever and was tested for strep, which came back negative. He also had a rash on his arm and was tested for Lyme disease. We have not had any response from the doctor, leading me to believe this test was negative. He has been fever-free for six days but the sore throat persists. Could this be bacterial, and should he be seen? And how often is too often to give Tylenol in this case? He's had it before bed two nights in a row for pain, but I don't want to give it too often or for too many days.

Negative for strep
negative for lyme
fever-free for six days but the sore throat persists
These finding suggestive of pharyngitis , best to test the throat swab for culture and sensitive and gave the treatment according to the test result.
