I have been having symptoms of unusual infection like odour coming from my genital area. I have just had a result back of large numbers of gram positive bacilli taken from a high vaginal swab, Not indicative of bacterial vaginosis. Can you tell me what this could mean? I had pelvic surgery awhile back which was botched and have been having nightmarish problems since. I know urogenital tract problems stemmed from the surgery.
If the vaginal swab testing resulted positive for gram positive bacilli, it is indicative for genital infection causing the odor coming from your genital area.
I suggest to start immediate treatment with oral antibiotics and local (vaginal) ovules and cream. for up to 10 days.
I also advise to: - keep a good hygiene of your genitalia - avoid sex while on treatment - drink more water - wear cotton panties
Hope it was of help! Dr.Bardha
