Rapid Heart Rate, Pressure Sensation In Chest, Tremors, Excessive Bleeding. Done EKG, Blood Tests. Awaiting Myomectomy. Now What?

Hi! For the last 6 months o have been very sick... I am 36, dont smoke, am a social drinker, dont have kids, never had any health worries until now... It all started one night while I was sleeping when I suddenly woke up and had a very fast heart rate, was light headed... I had to drink lots of water and walked back and fourth while taking deep breaths until I felt better. I calmed down a bit and fell asleep again. The next time I had a similar episode, I felt pressure on my chest, tingling in my arm... I got very worried and went to the ER. The dr's performed an EKG and blood tests and the EKG came back normal and blood tests came fairly normal- potassium and iron levels were a bit low... So i was prescribed 10meq of pot and ferros something a rather aka iron once a day. I felt slightly better for a while until, again, after my cousins bday where i drank some wine, had the worst epidode... All of the above syptoms PLUS an electrical shocklike feeling on the right side of my chest... I freaked out and went straight back to the ER. Everything came back 100% normal, incl. the EKG. I immediately set- up a check with my dr. and after telling him my ordeal he did alll sorts of tests- thyroid, kidney, hormone, etc and it all came back just fine. I decided that maybe it was what i was eating after having a sip of my diet coke and feeling a cold wave surround my heart area... I have not had any aspertame or artificial sweeteners since, i also try to not eat anything with artificial colours or perservatives and it has helped but has not stopped these episodes. Just tonight i had an episode where I knew I wasn't feeling 100 % and the my heart rate rose, and i started extreme shivering, incl my jaw... My face was red and eyes were a bit bloodshot... I drank water, walked, quivered and after about 7 mins it stopped but i still feel a pressure on my chest and like burning in my stomach opening. Its all very scary... And my husband and I are skeptical about going to the ER again.
After my january dr's checkup I had my gynecologist do my checkup and he discoveted fibroids.... 6 of the... One pf the fairly big 6.5cm but apparently my ovaries are unharmed. I am currently awaiting a date for a myomecty so that hopefully we can get pregnant soon and Im wondering the fibroids could be the cause of my attacks?! Or maybe they are just anxiety attacks? I am so scared that my heart is just going to give up on me one day ;( I dont have insurance and am in crazy medical debt... I just want to feel better so that Zi can be productive and go back and work full- time ( I only work parttime right now because these episodes ware me out, and 10 days before my period I am in exteme pain and discomfort and during my period I bleed a lot for anout 10 to 15 days). I appreciate any advice you may have! I dont know where else to turn! Thank you, Carolina

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Standard ECG records the electrical activity of the heart, for a few seconds. It can detect the arrhythmia occurring during that time only. If the episode occurs randomly or precipitated by a specific activity like exercise, one needs Holter or event monitor. Holter records for days; Event monitor for weeks

Anaemia / Anxiety / Alcohol / Tobacco (smoking) / Caffeine (too much tea, coffee, cola) / Fever / Infection / Pain / Stress / Thyroid / Vitamin D, calcium, magnesium / Medicines like Phenylephrine used for ‘cold’; Salbutamol used for asthma and so on - may be responsible.... / Illicit ‘drugs’ like Amphetamine are notorious to cause abnormal beats / At times, abnormal nerve paths in the heart (bypass tracts) or disease of the conduction system may be responsible!

ECHOcardiogram / TMT (Treadmill exercise ECG) may also be necessary for further assessment and assistance. You may even need Electro Physiological Studies (EPS)

The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
