Put The Condom Wrong First While Having Sex. Any Chance Of Getting Pregnant ?

My girlfriend and I had sex the day after she started birth control. The condom didn't break but I put it on wrong at first. Is there any chance she could have gotten pregnant? She has had spotting since she started taking it, cramps two days before her scheduled period, abdominal pain the day of her scheduled period, pms-like mood swings before her period, and on her scheduled period she had light bleeding. I have researched and I have found that these are symptoms of both pregnancy and birth control. She is on Desogestrel/ethinyl estradiol and has been taking it at the exact same time for the past 3 weeks. We are really worried. Thank you - DJ

Welcome to HCM.
It she is taking her pill regularly than there is no chances of pregnancy.
These type of symptoms usually occur durig cycle date.Abdominal pain is due to uterine cramps.
Wait for complete bleeding on cycle date otherwise go for urine pregnancy test after 7th day of missing cycle. Also confirm it by blood hcg level and USG.
You have to take mtp pill if pregnancy is positive under guidance of your doctor.

Hello,
If the birth control pills are being taken regularly for past three weeks, then there is no chance of pregnancy even if it was an unprotected sex.
Use of condom is advised for initial one week of starting your oral contraceptive pills.
There is nothing to get worried.
Thanks

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

As you have mentioned, you had sex on first day which is in beginning of cycle, its a safer period, and as she is on pill, chances of pregnancy are unlikely.
spotting and mood swings could be due to OC pills. which is a common side effect, which will get regularized in a few months of regular usage.

Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards
Dr. Vidya
