Purple Blotches On Knees And Lower Legs On Standing Up And Still, Slight Numbness, Symptoms Disappear On Lying Down. Cause?

Hello there, I really need a thorough explanation of my condition and why this is happening. I started to notice purple/blue/pink blotches on my knees and LOWER legs and feet at 16 - I am now 20. I have been observing this and it happens when I am standing up and standing still. I don t feel any pain although slight numbness unless I move/walk around a lot. The symptoms go away when I am lying down (in bed) and when I am doing any exercise that involves moving and not standing still. I have already asked my GP what it is and she said to ignore it, but I really feel that this could be something. In case you are wondering; I don t smoke or drink. I am on a very healthy diet and drink enough water, and also exercise 2 to 3 times a week. I have never had any diseases or issues in my life.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Your problems are due to either disorder of blood circulation, weak blood vessels or blood cells abnormalities (congenital disorders).

To find the exact causes and, whether treatable or not, thorough blood workup is required.
Your doctor knows what all tests need to be ordered for. As a starter, a peripheral blood picture should be done to see for abnormalities of blood cells; and, tests for bleeding/clotting time.

Further tests will be done, depending on the outcome of these two tests.

Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me, order required tests, and- based on the reports- will prescribe suitable/modified treatment as advised.

In case of any further queries, revert back to me THROUGH DIRECT PREMIUM QUERY (Paid), addressed to me personally. You will receive- almost immediately- my response in great details.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.
