Pulsating Bulging Vein At Left Temple. Took Advil. Experienced Prism In Eyes. Taking Medicine For BP. Help Me Cure This.

I have a pulsating bulging vein at my left temple, a slight dull ache. I have also experienced flashes of light "prism" from both eyes. I do take meds for blood pressure and have been under alot of stress. Is this a cause for concern?
I took an advil and noticed that the vein went down in size. This has been on going for a few months.

Hello
Welcome to HCM

Pulsating blood vessel in temporal region with dull ache along with flashes of light may be due to Temporal Arteritis. It is common in hypertensive patients. As you have mentioned that you are suffering from hypertension and also you are under severe stress so I would advise you to please visit a good psychiatrist for proper evaluation of symptoms. Don't ignore the problem.

Thanks

Hello,
welcome to Healthcare Magic.

There is following possibilities in your case, which need evaluation and treatment in following hierarchy:
-High blood pressure: Monitor your BP regularly. If exacerbation of pulsatile headache is associated with high BP, then it needed attention.
-Migraine: Need further assessment
-Temporal arteritis
-CNS pathology: You may need MRI Brain to rule it out.

Your final treatment will depend on the cause. Till your evaluation got completed, monitor your BP and take you BP medicines regularly.

Wish you all the best.

Hi,
thanks for using healthcare magic.
I have gone through your available history.
pulsating bulging vein and lights may be reflective of migraine like vascular headache. it may be caused by stress. but one should also rule out cavernous sinus pathology to be on safer side.
You should consult Neurophysician who may advise to undergo CAT Scan or MRI.
I hope you will be fine soon.
thanks
