Prescribed Ecosprin For Numbness In Arm, Leg. Having Severe Gastric Trouble. Side Effect Of Medicine?

I am prescribed to take ecosprin AV 75/20 for some numbness in the left arm as well as Left Leg But of late I am getting heavy gastric trouble for which again there is another tablet to control the same. Is this due to some side effects of ecosprin? will this have any side effects on pancreas? because I am also a diabetic patient. Kindly do reply. regards, GVK Rao -Banagalore

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
You are diabetic and had some numbness in left half of body which could be possibly TIA ( Transient Ischemic Attack) due to this reason Aspirin and Atorvastatin combination is given to you, if you are not tolerating Aspirin you can discuss with your treating Physician to confirm this is due to Aspirin if so it may be changed to some other anti Platelet agent like Clopidigrel.
I hope your diabetes in well controlled, it will not affect your Pancreas but will have good effect on your Lipid profile that is Cholesterol.
Just in case you smoke and drink ,alcohol is more likely to damage Pancreas and smoking makes Hyper acidity worse.Take care of your diet.
Please take your drugs regularly do physical exercise daily maintain near ideal weight.

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
With the available described symptom, there appears to be possibility of right middle cerebral artery stroke.
Ecosprin contains aspirin and it is prone to cause gastric problems.
This has been found in studies that aspirin causes more gastric trouble when another NSAIDs is also taken.
If you are taking another NSAIDs then you should avoid.
You should take Ecosprin -AV along with meals to avoid undue side effects.
As such there appears to be no effect on pancreas.
As per your diabetic status, chances of heart disease and stroke is more and you should take Ecosprin -AV.
If your condition won't improve then you should also go for endoscopy for better clarification.
Avoid tomatoes, citrus fruits and oily spicy food.
