Prescribed Alfusin And Potrate MB6 For Urine Infection. Burning Urination Resolved. Need To Take Niftran?
hi,,, i m nilesh....
i was suffering from urine infection,, doctor prescribed tablet alfusin 10 mg and syrup potrate MB6 for 1 month... He also said that if the above 2 medicines doesn't work then take Niftran 100 mg twice daily... The above two medicines alfusin and potrate)i have completed the quota last dated 31st march,, till then there was a bit of burning sensation during urination although ,, but from 1st april till now there is no such burning sensation as such ... i m confused whether to take niftran 100mg anymore???? pls suggest ... right now there is no problem as such

Alfusin and potrate are used for urinary tract infection. If the infection is subsided then no need to use Niftran. Niftran is an antibiotic which is used particularly to treat Urine infections.
To confirm whether the infection is cured or not you can go for a routine urine check.
If the issue persists then you can start with Niftran.
To avoid urine infections further in the future maintain your water balance. Daily take atleast 4 to 5 litres of water. If you cannot take water purely as such you can take it in the form of fruit juices, soups, butter milk, coconut water(if not diabetic) etc.

Get urine culture and sensitivity also with routine urine check,bacterial count will specify and also pus cells in urine.if any residual infection lurking, nitrofurantoin in low doses for 2-3 months are curative (consult a urologist as well)
