Prescribe Proper Medication For Breast Cancer

Hi, I have been treated with chemo and radiation and now on anastrozole for stage 3 breast cancer. Tests so far show no signs of the cancer right now. Been on anastozole for about 2 years and effects have become unbearable. Doctor said, LAST MONTH, don t stop taking it and I will be taking it the rest of my life. I said okay but was crushed. I stopped taking it 7 days ago and didn t tell doctor but feel great . SKIN COLOR came back, no shortness of breath, no longer bedridden for 95percent of time. Feeling normal. Mental function normal again and not depressed and glucose level improving(GLUCOSE LEVELS were )./reaching almost 300 Should I tell doctor and risk losing him as my oncologist? Will stopping increase cancer coming back? I know it is a risky cancer. I had began to feel like the pills were killing me. I am already diabetic, high blood pressure, and have multiple sclerosis. Pills have blurred my vision. please help me. I am a retired teacher. I am desperate on what to do. I once had a life.

I know how it feels to have the side effects due to hormonal therapy.. Stopping anastrazole definitely puts you under risk for the cancer to come back.. You need not take anastrazole for lifelong. Rather take it down as one month at a time.. If it feels better affter stopping tablets, take for 4 weeks and take a 1 week off the drug. This is no recommended regimen but just a suggestion which I would suggest rather than you stopping it completely.. You have had stage 3 cancer hence these hormonal therapy is a must. You can inform your oncologist and be open about your apprehension and I am sure he will be able to suggest you ways to make you comfortabke during the course of therapy.

Thank you
