Pregnant With Enlarged Heart. No Family History. Will I Be Able To Carry The Baby To Full Term?

Hi I am pregnant and just told I have a mild to moderate enlarged heart. I have no history of heart conditions in myself nor my family. I am scheduled for an echo and a holtier monitor. My question is once I deliver will my heart heal itself? I am only 20 wks preg. Will I be able to carry my baby to term? What kind I do to help with my situation?

Hello,
Thanks for your query. mild cardiomegaly is normal in pregnancy, unless untill you have symptoms of heart lesion. A echo will clearly tell about any anatomivcal and functional lesion of heart. Your pregnancy outcome will depend on echo, heart function, and NYHA grade of yours.

I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. In case of any doubt, I will be available for follow ups.
Wish you good health.
Regards,
Dr Arif
