Pregnant Test Positive, Started Bleeding, Lot Of Cramping, Ultrasound Shows No Sac. Is This Normal ?

My name is AAAA , I am I think 3 to 4 weeks pregnant, I took the test and got postive, but at the 4 the week, I started bleeding light and then it got heavy....with a lot of cramping....I went to the Er and they did a bunch of test, I am pregnant....but when they did an ultra sound, they saw no baby, just a yoke sack. I'm worried...is that normal?

Hello,

Yolk sac in the uterus is a definitive sign of pregnancy.

It is too early to appreciate the growing fetus in an ultrasound.

In 16 weeks scan you may be able to seen it if it a viable intrauterine pregnancy.

Spotting is normal in 1st trimester of pregnancy.

But you need to be careful with heavy bleeding. It may be sign of miscarriage or any other uterine related pathology.

Consult you Obstetrician at the earliest.

Hi, it appears that the baby has expelled by the time you go for ultrasound , and yolk sac is about to be aborted. It is to be cleared by doing D&C, to prevent the excess of bleeding.
So i advise you to consult a gynacologist for diagnosis and treatment. Thank you.
