Pregnant, Suffering From Diabetes. Prescribed Metformin, Insulin Injections. Safe To Use During Pregnancy?

hi i m 28 years old. now i m in pregnant in 32 weeks doctor say i have diabetes . they said to take some insulin i do t know weather is it good. i want to know about can i use metformin they give those tablet as well. i do t know what to do. is it make any problem for my baby? which is good metformin or insulin i want to know the best one. thanks

Hello,
Gestational diabetes is always a challenge to treat and although medicines like metformin are considered as safe to be used in pregnancy but it is always best to take injectable insulin as it is much better drug to control high levels of sugar which can always take place in pregnancy due to the high stress of pregnancy.
Moreover a meticulous blood glucose control is required during pregnancy to achieve a good outcome,the use of insulin is better as METFORMIN would be unable to do so.
Please go for injection insulin.
