Pregnant, Have High Levels Of Fasting Glucose, Insulin Test. Alarming?

Hi At 4+5 days weeks pregnancy I took a fasting glucose and insulin test (that was scheduled before I realized I was pregnant). My glucose was 87mg/dl and insulin 28.3 microIU/L. My father was diabetic. In my previous pregnancy I was fine- no diabetes and a perfect healthy baby. Is it common to have high insulin at tihs stage? am I insulin resistance? Am I at risk?

hi,
during pregnancy physiological reduction in insulin action occurs so more insulin is required during pregnancy, that may be one reason for your increased insulin levels as your fasting blood sugar is not high no need to worry,
if your doctor recommends you can go for glucose tolerance test which is a screening test for gestational diabetes to rule out the possibility.
take care.
